Treatment for adult acne

Adult Acne is a cruel joke played by nature. You would think that it is just teenagers who deal with Acne and Breakouts.

Sadly, a lot of us face the often confidence destroying breakout of Adult Acne. With Skinbase Microdermabrasion Facials we have put together some top tips for dealing with Acne as an adult

Quitting Smoking

Smoking is highly linked to causing women's Adult Acne. If you smoke, and often have breakouts, it could be time to consider quitting for good

Food Allergies

Some breakouts may be caused by some food allergies.  If you think that this could be the case with you, start by keeping a food journal.  Document what you eat, and the condition of your skin. You can then try going for a couple of weeks without foods which you believe may be responsible for breakouts and look for signs of improvement.

No Touching!

Keep your hands off your face! Your hands touch everything, and pull in dirt and oil. When you touch your face, you are putting that dirt and oil onto your skin, causing it to get into your pores and clog them up.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is a natural disinfectant which can help against Adult Acne. By dabbing a small amount onto blemishes, you can help breakdown the bacteria that causes spots, and speed up healing.

Drink More Water

If you aren’t drinking at least 8 full glasses of water each day, its time to start!  I’m sure you know how important water is to your body.  It is also just as important for your skin.

Microdermabrasion treatments have gradually become the first choice for many people searching for an acne cure, which also helps to correct Acne scarring. Surveys suggest that 95% of adolescents and adults suffer with Acne Scarring problems, so you should know that you're not alone in your struggle to find a cure.

Scarring caused by Acne looks very different to that of other scarring- it’s the deficit of collagen in the specific region that gives rise to Acne Scarring. After the Acne has subsided, the affected area needs collagen to be able to heal and if the skin underlying the subsided Acne doesn’t have it, it tends to get scarred during the healing process.

Our Skinbase Microdermabrasion Facials are quite simply perfect for treating Acne and Acne Scarring because it encourages collagen to form.

In fact, the effects of this treatment can most often be seen after just 1 treatment!

It is best to opt for a Course of treatments to get optimum results, after which you can simply switch to a monthly maintenance treatment.

Any of our therapists will be able to advise you at either Salon.
